Rule: When multiplying 2 digit numbers follow these steps

Follow along in the picture below to get an idea of how to multiply two-digit numbers.

    1.) Line the numbers up

                        23
                    12
   
     2.) Multiply the 2, from the 12, by the 23.  Write the number below the line
    
    3.) Multiply the 1, from the 12, by the 23.  Write that number below the line and one spot over from the number found in #2.
    
    4.) Add the numbers
    
    5.) Find the answer
