Tips

The best way to remember your multiples is to practice them.  Writing them out on flash cards and testing yourself with friends.  Have your families help out to with quizzing you on the times tables.

's : With the 1's table the answer will allways be the number that is being multiplied by 1.  1 x 7 = 7, 1 X 4 = 4

's : Double the number being multiplied.  2 X 4 is 4 doubled, or 4 + 4 which is 8.  2 X 9 is 9 doubled, or 9 + 9 which is 18

's : PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE, say the 3's times table in a pattern, which will make them easier to remember

's : Double your double.  4 x 4 is the same as 4 X 2 = 8 twice, or 8 + 8, giving you 16.

's : use your fingers to keep track of the fives.  You have 10 fingers and if each finger counts for one 5 then you can count to 50 on your fingers.  Also remember that every multiple of 5 ends in 5 or 0.

's : The last place of the multiples of 6 will always end in this order : 6, 2, 8, 4, 0.  Also the easiest way to remember the 6's, is to practice them until you know them by heart.

's : Like the 3's the best way to remember the 7's is to practice saying them over and over again.  There really are no tips but to work hard on your sevens

's : Like the 6's the multiples of 8 will always have the last place end in a certain order.  They will always end in 8, 6, 4, 2, 0.  Another tip is to add 10 and then subtract 2.  You know 5 X 8 = 40 but you don't remember 6 X 8? Thats ok, just add 10 to 40, which gives you 50 and then subtract 2 to get 48.  So now you know that 6 X 8 = 48!

's : The finger method is the easiest, but if you want to be faster practice without using your fingers!

's : Add 0 to the end of the number that 10 is being multiplied by.  10 X 7 can be found by adding a 0 behind 7, in the ones place.  So 7 X 0 = 70

's : For the numbers 1-9, when multipling by 11, the product will always be the number twice.  4 X 11 = 44

's : Add 10 to the number and then 2.  12 X 2 = 12 + 10 = 22 + 2 = 24.
